To see the different values it is important to practice. Begin by drawing the still life of geometric shapes in your sketchbook (it can cross over to the second page) . Clarify their values with gouache paint. Complete your still life using black, white and one color. Switch places with someone at your table (changes your point of view) and change your color. Draw and paint your new view of the still life with a different color , black and white.
