Every two years South Ridge School supports a community event called “Empty Bowl”. Students in the high school art and shop classes create bowls to sell – each worth $10. In additional to the bowl buyers are given a bowl of soup and slice of bread. The money collected is donated to the local Food Shelf. There the money is matched (doubles in it’s worth) and provides free food for those in need in our community.

If a family struggles to keep food in the house – a bowl of soup could be enough to make it through. Some of our neighbors struggle like this. We choose to provide free food when they need it.
We are going to silk screen the aprons worn by the folks throwing clay bowls and working at the event. These aprons will be used for year to come to encourage us to keep doing a good thing and join us as a community.
